How to Re-Establish Your Credit


Bad credit, it means poor credit report rating in any type of loan process. Thus, conservative lenders such as bank or credit union will always deny borrowers with poor credit report history in their loan process.

Even though you have been denied from conservative lenders because of poor credit report history, you are not at the end of road yet.

If you are behind on payment because of medical reason or unemployment reason, you should contact the creditor about your personal situation. Next, you need to negotiate a payment plan that will come within your budget. Just remember, most creditors are willing to collect something instead of nothing.

Bad credit can be an emotional strain in hunting down for loan to finance your major purchases in your life such as buying a vehicle or buying a home. However, there is always hope in resolving the problem, you can re-establish your credit by financing a purchase or using the secured credit card.

A secured credit card requires a cash collateral deposit that becomes the credit line for your account. For example, if you put $500 in the account; you can charge up to $500. You may be able to add to the deposit to add more credit, and sometimes a bank will reward you for good payment then add to your credit line without requesting additional deposits.

Credit cards are facts of life; you will always need one to make a hotel or plane reservation, or to rent a car, even if you plan to pay cash. Many stores require a credit card to accept your check. Credit card can be used for convenient shopping and use for manage your personal spending, such as use one credit card for utilities, one for groceries, and one for vehicle repair and gas. So you will have records of monthly spending and you can keep tab on your budget. Responsible use of a credit card builds a good credit rating history, and within two years you will be able to qualify for a regular credit card. Just within four years you will have mortgage-worthy credit history.

The alternative solution to secured credit card is establishing credit report historyby financing your purchase such as buying an appliance, buy a vehicle and even get your first cellular phone. You will need to put some money for down payment. Make sure that you make your payments on time. It depends on the company, which does the financing. Some companies will report your payment history to the credit bureaus. And some other companies don't report your payment history to the credit bureaus, and usually they will give you history of your payment with notarization on it.

It is your responsibility to send a copy of your payment history to each of the credit bureaus. Send your letter by certified mail, "return receipt requested," so you can document what the Credit Bureau received. When you have established a good credit report history, soon credit card companies will send you pre-approve offer in the mail. You will be on your way to re-establish a good credit.
